Unique Hotel Amenities

June 8, 2019

Any halfway decent hotel offers turn-down service or some mints on your pillow. Other hotels go the extra mile or two. Here are some hotels with singular benefits to possibly check our during your summer travels.

GONE FISHIN’

Travelers staying at the Happy Guests Lodge, a hotel in Warrington in west-central England, guests can bring some life to the room. For the equivalent of a mere six dollars, they can host the hotel’s live-in goldfish, Happy.

SOUNDS GOOD

Hard Rock Hotels are a spinoff of the Hard Rock Café, the international chain of theme restaurants with rock n’ roll-celebrating memorabilia adorning its walls. True to that, those staying at the hotel can request a Fender electric guitar to play while they stay, or, if they’re into the electronic music scene, DJ equipment.

A TALL ORDER

Traveling can be a bother, but it must be especially tough on extremely tall people. Airplane seats, airplane aisles, hotel rooms, and hotel beds are made with the average-sized man or woman in mind. Miami’s Epic Hotel, however, can accommodate the supremely-long-legged with its “tall rooms,” equipped with long beds and raised showerheads.

REST IN PEACE

The whole point of a hotel is that it’s a place to get a good night’s sleep. New York’s The Benjamin doesn’t want to overlook that and has several amenities to ensure rests. They offer guests a “pillow menu” created by a sleep expert as well as a library of lullaby music.

FIGHT NIGHT

One wouldn’t associate a name as synonymous with glitz and glamour like the Ritz-Carlton with something as silly as a pillow fight, but the chain’s location in Palm Beach, Florida, sells a “Family Pillow Fight Package.” More sixty bucks, the front desk will send up 30 brightly-colored silk pillows and two pairs of kid-size boxing gloves.

THINK INK

If you have a great vacation, why not commemorate it with a tattoo? If you’re so inclined, the Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach, California, has an off-staff tattoo artist, and guests get a $100 tattoo voucher. (They also get a free tattoo after-care package, which consists of a bottle of lotion, an ice pack…and a bottle of tequila.)
