10 Amusing Stan Lee Cameos From Marvel Movies

April 3, 2015

Stan Lee helped make Marvel Comics what it is, creating or co-creating hundreds of characters, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. In tribute, every movie based on a Marvel Comics title includes a Stan Lee cameo. Here are some of the best, and hardest to spot.

Stan Lee Cameos in Marvel MoviesX-Men (2000)

As a hot dog vendor on the beach.

Spider-Man (2002)

A witness to Spider-Man and Green Goblin’s property-destroying battle, he pulls a little girl out of the way of falling debris.

Hulk (2003)

A security guard on Bruce Banner’s lab. The other security guard? Lou Ferrigno, who played the Hulk on the 1970s TV show.

Fantastic Four (2005)

As elderly mailman Willie Lumpkin (a character Lee created for the comics).

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

A guest at the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, he says his name is “Stan Lee,” but he’s not on the guest list and is denied entry.

Iron Man (2008)

As an older gentleman in a robe, smoking a pipe, and flanked by two young blonde women, Tony Stark understandably mistakes Lee for Hugh Hefner.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

As a reporter wearing suspenders, Tony Stark understandably mistakes Lee for Larry King.

Captain America (2011)

A World War II general.

The Avengers (2012)

A man playing chess in a park, interviewed by a TV reporter who doesn’t think that the Avengers are real.

Big Hero 6 (2014)

This is an animated movie, so a Lee cameo was tricky. When the characters all go to Fred’s mansion, they pass through a hallway of family portraits. Fred’s dad looks an awful lot like Stan Lee.
